河南工业大学的新闻传播教育开始于2001年，2004年组建新闻与传播学院，2021年河南省广播电视局与河南工业大学共建新闻与传播学院。
学院现有教职工63人，其中教授7人、副教授24人、博士31人。有多位教师被评为河南省优秀青年社科专家、河南省教学标兵、河南省教育厅学术技术带头人、河南省高等学校青年骨干教师等。
学院现有3个本科招生专业：播音与主持艺术、网络与新媒体、新闻学。学院拥有新闻传播学一级学科硕士学位授权点和新闻与传播专业硕士学位授权点，新闻传播学为河南省一级重点学科。学院是多个国家一级学会的常务理事单位和理事单位，是河南省普通高等学校新闻传播学类本科专业教学指导委员会副主任委员单位、河南省广播电视协会副会长单位等。
学院建有河南省人文社科重点研究基地——“媒介生态与社会治理”创新研究中心，近年来，学院共承担国家社科基金项目17项，承担省部级项目30余项。
学院具有完备的实验教学条件。传媒实验教学中心为河南省实验教学示范中心，总面积3000多平方米，建有700㎡广播级演播厅、全媒体实验室、短视频创作、网络舆情分析等20余个专业实验室。学院与人民网、中青网、大河网、河南电视台、河南大象融媒体集团等多家新闻媒体合作建立实践教学基地。
学院积极打造“传之梦”系列文化品牌，《新春红诗会育人项目》获评河南省高校辅导员精品项目。学院搭建了优质多维的实践平台，学生实践团队获评“国家重点实践团队”。学院获批中宣部“民族团结筑梦想”志愿服务项目，每年丰富多彩的实践活动分别被多个国家级和省级媒体报道。
Introduction to the School of Journalism and Communication
The School of Journalism and Communication at Henan University of Technology began its journalism education in 2001. Officially established in 2004, the School became a joint initiative between the Henan Provincial Radio and Television Bureau and Henan University of Technology in 2021.
The School currently has 63 staff members, including 7 professors, 24 associate professors, and 31 doctoral degree holders. Several faculty members have been honored as Outstanding Young Social Science Experts of Henan Province, Provincial Teaching Role Models, and Academic and Technical Leaders within the Henan Department of Education.
The School offers three undergraduate programs: Broadcast and Hosting Arts, Network and New Media, and Journalism. It also provides a Master’s degree program in Journalism and Communication, which is recognized as a provincial-level key discipline. The School holds standing council or member positions in several national first-tier academic societies. Furthermore, it serves as the Vice-chair of the Henan Provincial Higher Education Teaching Steering Committee for Journalism and Communication and as the Vice-president of the Henan Provincial Radio and Television Association.
The School established the "Media Ecology and Social Governance" Innovation Research Center, a key research base for humanities and social sciences in Henan Province. In recent years, the School has undertaken 17 national social science fund projects and over 30 provincial and ministerial projects.
The School boasts state-of-the-art experimental teaching facilities. Its Media Experiment Teaching Center is a provincial demonstration hub, spanning over 3,000 square meters. It houses more than 20 specialized laboratories, including a 700-square-meter broadcast-grade studio, an all-media laboratory, a short-video creation lab, and a network public opinion analysis lab. Additionally, the School has partnered with prominent media outlets, including People’s Daily Online, China Youth Network, Dahe Network, Henan Television, and Henan Elephant Media Group, to establish practical teaching bases.
The School is actively cultivating its "Dream of Communication" cultural brand. Its "New Year Red Poetry Event" has been recognized as an exemplary educational project for university counselors in Henan Province. The School provides a high-quality, multi-dimensional practical platform; its student teams have been designated as "National Key Practice Teams." Additionally, the School’s "National Unity Builds Dreams" volunteer service project was approved by the Publicity Department of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee. Each year, the School’s diverse practical activities receive extensive coverage from national and provincial media outlets.
